BOZEMAN — Montana State University’s newest dining corridor won the grand prize as a top collegiate eating facility for large faculties within the country currently at an awards rite. The National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) offered MSU five top awards. MSU’s Rendezvous Dining Pavilion received the grand prize and the gold award for residential dining centers inside the large faculty class. MSU Culinary Services also received silver medals for special occasions and retail sales and the bronze award for excellent neighborhood meal recipes.
MSU won a silver award for its Dia de Los Muertos dinner event closing on Oct. 31. For the occasion, Culinary Services labored with MSU students to create an authentic environment and adorned Rendezvous with banners of papel picado, lanterns, marigold flowers, and a ofrenda altar. The menu featured over 34 items that ranged from grilled chipotle agave bird to tres leches cake and pepita brittle. MSU also gained every other silver award for retail income for its Fork in the Road meals truck and a bronze for a great local ingredients recipe for lamb and butternut curry.
The Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards, given out with the aid of NACUFS, celebrate exemplary menus, displays, special occasion-making plans, and new eating standards and “offer a road for sharing thoughts and innovative shows in campus dining services.” The award winners were displayed at the NACUFS national convention in July.
